About Carolyn Brigit Flynn

Carolyn Brigit Flynn is an author and teacher dedicated to language as a pathway to renewed life and deepening of soul and spirit.

 

As a poet and writer she infuses her work with a dedication to the earth, a love of natural and human history, and the lives of women.

 

As a teacher, she provides a powerful container for writers to generate new work from the depth of the soul, and to edit and complete their writing for a broad audience.

Carolyn’s poetry collection, Communion: In Praise of the Sacred Earth, was published by White Cloud Press.  She is the editor of Sacred Stone, Sacred Water: Women Writers and Artists Encounter Ireland, which emerged from her 2016 tour and writing retreat in Ireland.  She also edited the popular anthology Sisters Singing: Blessings, Prayers, Art, Songs, Poetry and Sacred Stories by Womenand The New Story: Creation Myths for Our Times. She is currently completing an intimate book about her journey to reclaim her ancestral Irish homeland as well as her own soul, called The Light of Ordinary Days.

 

Her poems and essays have appeared in many journals, including Catamaran Literary Reader, Kosmos: Journal for Global Transformation, Dark Matter: Women Witnessing, Phren-Z, Porter Gulch Review, Calyx: A Journal of Art and Literature by Women, The Pedestal Magazine,  Monterey Poetry Review, Black Buzzard Review, and the anthologies Second Wind: Words and Art of Hope and Resilience, Pandemic Corona, Death: Deep Reflections, Sacred Earth: Dreaming the Future, Intimate Kisses: The Poetry of Sexual Pleasure, Inside Grief: Death, Loss and Bereavement and New to North America: Writing by U.S. Immigrants, Their Children and Grandchildren. 

Carolyn is currently publishing new writing on her Substack Newsletter, "Writing to Feed the Soul," about nature, soul, life, family, love, spirit, dreams, poetry, history, synchronicity, healing and resilience. She often writes about Ireland and her perspective as an Irish American.

Many years ago Carolyn discovered a profound affiliation with the ancient places of Ireland. She periodically brings groups of writers and artists to journey into the soul and spirit of Ireland through writing, art and storytelling.

Carolyn lives near the ocean in California with her wife, the poet Jean Mahoney. She teaches writing groups and retreats called Writing to Feed the Soul in Santa Cruz, CA and in Ireland.
